WHO IS JESUS

People often ask, “What makes Jesus different from all the other religious leaders who ever lived?”
The Bible—God’s inspired word—makes it very clear that Jesus was more than just another religious teacher or prophet. It tells us instead that Jesus was unique.

How was Jesus unique?

First, He was unique in His person. He wasn’t just an unusually spiritual individual. He was more than that; He was God in human flesh. Yes, He was fully man, but He was also fully God. The Bible puts it this way: “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). This is what we celebrate at Christmas—God coming to earth in the form of a man.

Second, Jesus was unique in His purpose. Why did He come to earth? He came for one reason: to restore and renew a broken world. As Jesus Himself said, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Jesus demonstrated this love for all creation when he willingly chose to lay down his life by being put to execution of a Roman cross in order to restore our relationship with God, the beginning of God’s new creation. The bible says that Jesus’ 'sacrificial death' made an ‘atonement' for this world’s brokenness, including the brokenness within you and me.”

But that’s not the end of the good news about Jesus. We know that His promise of everlasting life is true because He did something no other person has ever done: He rose from the dead - what Christians call the ‘resurrection’ - and having defeated death itself, He still lives today. We invite you to look at Jesus as He is present in the pages of the New Testament in the Bible, and you will find there are very good reasons to follow Him.

Still not convinced whether this is true? Why not visit your local church and speak to the priest, minister or leader about who Jesus is. They will be able to point you to biblical and historical evidence that Jesus really existed in history, and that there is compelling evidence to believe He is who He says he is.
